Job Description

Advance Employment is seeking Standardized Patients to join our team! As a Standardized Patient, you will be portraying the symptoms, personality traits and other characteristics of a real patient, but in a standardized way. In this role, you will receive case materials in advance that must be memorized to create the character. This generally includes information related to the current medical complaint (when it started, previous episodes, severity etc) along with other background information (marital status, past medical history, allergies, tobacco use, alcohol use etc) You will use the information to portray the patient in either a one-on-one setting with a single student/learner, or in a group setting with instructors and/or other students observing. 


Job Duties: 
-Memorize a case script detailing specific emotions, behaviors, and disease signs/symptoms for presentation during simulated learning situations 
-Presenting case information in a standardized manner during the simulated interactive patient history and/or nursing assessment 
-Remains in a specific patient character as trained when responding to student questions 
-Accurately remembers encounters with students for the purpose of constructive verbal feedback 
-Participating in standardized patients group training and/or mentorship of new standardized patients 
-Maintains confidentiality of information related to cases, student behaviors and feedback evaluations 
-Provides educationally constructive verbal feedback within a structured format, as appropriate to the position 
-Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned


Qualifications and Education Requirements: 
-Communicate articulately 
-Provide constructive feedback 
-Observe and remember learners' behavior for accurately evaluated their competencies 
-Possess interpersonal skills when working with clinical learners 
-Veteran status 


Physical Requirements: 
-Ability to document legibly using writing instrument or computer 
-Must be able to sit or lie down for up to 30 minutes at a time 
-Must be able to portray the emotional and physical aspects of a patient or family member and/or utilize body to instruct learners 


Job Type: Part-Time/Temporary 
Pay: $18.50/hour
