Job Description

Paper Manufacturer, located in Constantine, Mi. Has an immediate opening for a Process Engineer. The salary will range from $75k to $100k and Blue Cross Benefits. Must have minimum two years experience and Chemical or Science Degree.


  • Responsibilities include analyzing manufacturing equipment and processes for ways to improve performance. 
  • Lead Equipment / System modifications, Process & Continuous improvement teams, and Quality Assurance.
  • Maintain technical reports, technical specs, and process development for possible multiple manufacturers.
  • Provide technical support for multiple step processes from automation to paste-making, slitting, and/or laminating processes for our converting department.
  • Develop and maintain product specifications, equipment specification. Develop process parameters around machine settings as well as product conformity criteria for operators and lab technicians.
  • Coordinate readiness of equipment and parts to support production and trials for the converting department.
  • Drive continuous improvement efforts in converting and other departments.
  • Drive improvement in yields, quality, customer satisfaction, and efficiency on converting and paper mill products.
  • Ensure products delivered to the customer meet quality standards.
  • Maintain plant-wide Quality Management System (QMS)
Organize meetings with technical business partners, customer service and sales to evaluate customer satisfaction and lead the investigation (root cause of customer complaints.


Qualifications
BS Degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Materials Science) or related discipline.
Minimum 2 years experience in process improvement/operational excellence project roles within the manufacturing sector. Experience in paper, film, or web-handling processes a plus.
5 plus years of experience in roll-to-roll converting, slitting, lamination, coating, cutting, web handling, and automation.
Demonstrated training and proficiency in statistical problem-solving methodology and statistical process control is required.
Proven experience of the successful implementation of continuous improvement manufacturing programs.
Must also have a working knowledge of PC based applications, optimization, technical support, and training of shop floor employees.
A high degree of self-motivation, effective interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently or in team settings is essential, with a flexible and hands-on mentality.
Ability to work with solvents, machinery, and computer systems.
Demonstrated ability in the application of web handling and automation (winders, tension transducers, web surface, vision systems, slitters, roll laminators, slitting, and spooling.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
