Quality Team Leads- Supervisor for our World Class Automotive Supplier

Our World Class Automotive Supplier located in EATON RAPIDS, Mi. (Zip Code 48827) has an immediate need for:
Quality Team Lead-Supervisors. This is a Direct Hire Position which means Permanent Placement, A Shift Premium and Premium 
Blue Cross Blue Shield Plans including: Medical, Dental and Vision are all included with this position.   

We offer Competitive Salary:  $20-$25/hr and a Signing Bonus (depending on experience &/or certifications) 
Open Shift Assignments:   2nd Shift (3pm-11pm)   and   3rd Shift (11pm-7am) 

Must Have:  Experience in  Automotive Manufacturing
                      CMM Experience with Metallurgical Testing with various tools

Primary Purpose of Position:
Reporting to the Quality Manager, the Quality Tech Supervisor will be the leader of shop floor Quality Techs and has the responsibility to coach, supervise and develop them in supporting production and protection to customers. The role is pivotal in continuous improvement activities pertaining to the quality function within the business and is critical in maintaining sound customer relationships.
Major Responsibilities of Position
Leadership: Supervise/coach Quality Technicians on their daily duties in supporting production to manufacture products free of defects and with minimum scrap. Coordinate Quality Technicians schedule insuring 100% production coverage whenever necessary. Participate in hiring process of new Quality Technicians, and on the application of disciplinary actions when necessary.
Customer Service: Support Quality Engineers in dealing with customer complaints ensuring customer protection through implementation and control of robust immediate containment actions, until definitive countermeasures are implemented. Ensure precise communication and training to shop floor teams in containment actions and quality alerts.
Problem solving: Address internal production scrap issues providing necessary guidance to allow teams to identify root causes and countermeasures so problems can be eradicated and recurrences don t occur. Provide leadership to Quality Engineering group in the utilization of Quality Principles, sound problem solving tools including SPC, 8D, QRQC, CA, etc.
Quality System: Support System Facilitator in maintenance and improvement of company s QMS through enforcement of standards and conduction of internal audits/LPA. Coach Quality Technicians on execution of rigorous audits allowing gaps to standards to be detected and fixed.
Communication: Ensure accurate and precise communication of results and targets to shop floor teams, peers, and management team. Contribute with information to complete daily, weekly, and monthly reporting to all interested parties such as management team, corporate office, and external stakeholders.
Training: Train team members in quality systems and procedures. Encouraging use and understanding of the quality tools and systems in production including SPC, CA, QRQC, etc.
Other duties as required, including special projects as they arise.
Administration of relevant Plex modules.
Take proactive steps to ensure compliance to customer requirements and customer satisfaction.
Approval of time and attendance for direct reports
Approve work schedules, including vacations
Coaching and if necessary, recommendation and issuance of discipline for direct reports
Conduct periodic performance reviews
Quality Manager Ongoing reporting of the health of the overall quality system, escalating quality concerns or opportunities where appropriate.
Quality Engineers ensure program specific OEM quality standards are followed.
Production employees and Quality Techs- ensure correct information is passed on regarding part information, quality standards, and any changes to existing quality procedures.
All Meridian personnel, maintaining positive employment relationships.
Personal Competencies (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Attributes):
Microsoft Office with advanced Excel skills.
Experience in the use of an ERP system (e.G. Plex, SAP, Oracle).
Good presentation and customer service skills.
Time/priority management skills to meet or exceed targets for launch activities and managing multiple projects.
Problem solving and analysis.
Sound Health, Safety and Environmental knowledge.
Advanced knowledge of automotive quality systems and standards.
Negotiation & Compromise.
Continuous improvement.
Excellent communication skills both oral and written.
Strong team ethic.
Fluency in English.
Ability to Travel.
Physical demands:
Ability to stand, walk, sit with simple grasping and manual dexterity required
Ability to occasionally climb or balance and reach with hands out in front and occasionally lift up to ten pounds
Must be able to talk and hear over 2/3 of the time. Must have vision at or corrected to 20/20.
Must be able to drive
Must have the ability to tolerate the above requirements for a minimum of 8 hours daily
Work Environment
Automotive manufacturing environment; salary office supporting role with standard hours of 7: 00 am to 4: 00 pm. Position is overtime exempt; however, overtime to ensure task accomplishment is expected
Production Environment: 25% of the time, includes exposure to industrial safety hazards, loud and sudden noises, hot/humid conditions. Extreme temperatures during the summer and winter months can be expected
Office Environment: 75% of the time, busy office with frequent interruptions and multi-tasking required; standard office equipment available.
Educational and Certification Background
1 Associates (or higher) degree in an engineering discipline or Technical College diploma (CET or similar) Desirable
2 A Minimum of 5 years quality assurance experience within automotive manufacturing Essential
3 Previous leadership experience Desirable
4 Knowledge of die casting processes (or similar i.E. Injection molding, stamping, etc.) Desirable
5 Certified ISO/IATF Lead Auditor Certification or Certified ISO/IATF Internal Auditor Desirable
6 Six Sigma Green Belt Designation Highly Desirable
