World Class Automotive Supplier in Eaton Rapids is hiring for a Quality Engineer on 1st shift!

This exciting new position is a Direct-Hire, permanent position with a competitive salary of $70k to $122k and wonderful benefits package.

Primary Purpose of Position

The Quality Engineer is the quality leader for assigned programs including launch support, application of the quality systems, facilitation of APQP activities, as well as providing statistical and quality leadership to the team. This role works closely with the Meridian plant teams to ensure timely and accurate response to customer issues related to assigned programs.

Major Responsibilities of Position

  • Lead the execution of the Quality Operating system for the customers, suppliers and processes assigned.
  • Confirm the effectiveness of these processes through active participation in a comprehensive internal auditing system (TS internal audits, LPA, Control Plan audits, etc.)
  • Execute necessary quality tasks to assure customer specifications are met. These include:
  • Development of control plans
  • Participation on PFMEA and DFMEA teams as the quality representative
  • Execution of APQP tasks
  • Preparation of PPAP and other initial sample documentation
  • Development and implementation of gaging and inspection strategies, including gage specification
  • Measurement system analysis
  • Lead problem solving teams for customer concerns and process improvement
  • Data analysis and presentation
  • Lead the translation of customer expectations into plant processes and inspection techniques
  • Lead cross functional teams for the timely and effective resolution customer complaints through the use of structured problem solving processes (i.e. 8D)
  • Actively plan training programs for self to increase core quality competencies and improve personal competencies as required by the function (i.e. facilitation skills, etc.)
  • Support the confirmation of effective processes by auditing processes as required.
  • Train team members in quality systems and procedures, quality tools and systems in production including SPC and non-conforming material handling.
  • Other duties as assigned

Educational and Certification Background

Minimum 5 years’ experience in a quality/manufacturing environment.

Experience in the following disciplines: Problem solving and corrective action tools (8D, 5 Why, etc.), Root cause analysis, Control charts & statistical process control; DOE; Gage R&R; Process auditing; Data analysis techniques

Knowledge and understanding of automotive quality system requirements (TS16949, QSA, MSI, APQP, PPAP, etc.).

Bachelors’ Degree in an Engineering or Business Discipline

A.S.Q.C. Certifications (C.M.I., C.Q.T., C.Q.E., C.Q.M.)

Previous experience in the programming and/or operation of a Coordination Measuring Machine

Six Sigma Green Belt, preferred

Highly Desirable

  • Must be able to work flexible hours and be on call after hours.
  • Ability to lead others; ability to lead cross functional work teams
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills

  • Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion, especially in dealing with sensitive company and customer information

Job Requirements
